 Happy Weekend, Room 14! 🌸🌹🌺

We only have a few weeks left in the school year! It's hard to believe! As we move through June, we will be completing a few fun projects, and learning more about the fun things happening in our own community, in and around Calgary!

We will be reviewing the importance of cooperation, and being kind to one another. The other day in class, I told the students that our focus on character traits, and developing into good people, is just as important, if not more important than all the reading, writing, and math we work so hard on every day at school. It's true! You kids are learning how to be together, how to make and keep friends, how to work through challenges, and how to handle difficult situations with resilience. School provides important opportunities to make choices, to do the right thing even when no one is watching. Please remember that these choices matter. I'm proud to see all of the hard work happening every day in Room 14! πŸ’š

BOWLING FORMS DUE MONDAY: Max, Isabella, Suleiman, Caroline

Field Trip on Tuesday!

Happy Weekend, Room 14!

There are a few important reminders about the Field Trip on Tuesday at the Leighton Centre:

1. We have had 2 parent volunteers cancel, so it you are able to join us, please email me this weekend at tajensen@cbe.ab.ca

2. Wear your uniform, and dress for the weather. Check the weather forecast and be sure to bring proper shoes/jacket etc. Part of our day (could be in the morning or afternoon) we will be going on a nature walk outside.

3. Bring your LUNCH and WATER BOTTLE! You will be bringing your back pack, to carry your lunch and water bottle. This is a good day to pack a few extra snacks and a nice-sized lunch so you don't go hungry during the day.

 Happy MAY LONG-WEEKEND everyone! πŸŒΈπŸŒ·πŸŒž⛅☔

Bring a Stuffy for Math Class
That's right - you read that correctly... please find your favourite stuffed animal and bring it to school next week. We have been working on measurement in Math, and will be using our measuring skills to complete a fun project.

Please choose your stuffy wisely, we don't need any humongous stuffed animals in our classroom taking up too much space. πŸ˜‰

Depending how many students take the time to read this blog post, and how many remember to bring their stuffy, we may be able to start the fun on Tuesday, otherwise Wednesday.
Please note - the stuffy has to be able to stay at school for a few days while we complete a multi-day project.
I will have a few extra stuffed animals in class in case anyone doesn't have one for their activity.

Have a WONDERFUL long weekend!

May 15, 2022

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! πŸŒ»πŸŒžπŸŒ…

Thank you to all the parent volunteers who have offered to attend on May 26th and May 31st. I believe we are just short 1 volunteer now for the Leighton Centre on May 31st.

If you are able to come on May 31st, please let me know. Thanks everyone!

Happy Mother's Day! πŸ’˜ 🌈 πŸ’–

I hope you are having a nice, relaxing weekend, celebrating all of the Moms in your lives!

Behaviour Self-Assessments
As we get closer to the end of the school year, and the end of grade 2 - we have been discussing the character traits and behaviours that will be even more important in Grade 3 - cooperation, responsibility, independence, determination, patience, and kindness, to name a few.

Last week, students completed a self-assessment about their own behaviours, attitudes and actions at school. It is important to reflect on our own lives sometimes, and to set goals in areas where we can make some improvements. This week, we are looking for more self-awareness as we work hard to follow expectations through till the end of the year. Keep up the hard work, room 14!

Field Trips
We are still looking for a few more volunteers for both upcoming field trips - so far I only have 1 parent volunteer for the Leighton Art Centre on May 31st.

If you don't have CBE volunteer clearance, and are interested in starting the online process, please contact the front office right away. They can get you started.

Thanks everyone!
